Honda's RC166 is one of the all-time great racing motorcycles and at its heart was a twin-overhead cam, 250cc six-cylinder engine which propelled Mike Hailwood to victory in every race he entered on the machine in 1966. We're obviously used to seeing the modern motorcycle kits from Tamiya and this is something very different and definitely one for the more experienced builder. The main frame and engine shouldn't pose too many problems and there are plenty of details to keep you occupied. The wheels are the only plated parts in the kit and are moulded as multiple parts. The ends of the spokes must be carefully trimmed away from the sprue and then fitted to the split wheel rims. It's all very delicate looking and great care will be needed not to damage the spokes. Tamiya are offering a metal wheel set as an alternative (along with many other upgrade parts) and these will certainly be stronger. We're really looking forward to seeing a finished example of this model, especially with all of the optional parts added. Beautiful.
