Renault RS01 Silverstone 1977 #15 Jabouille by Tameo Kits
An all new high detail kit from Tameo is always something to look forward to
and we were quite surprised when we saw this subject pop up on their future
productions list. Renault’s Turbo F1 car made it’s debut in the British Grand Prix
and although it hadn’t raced before, it had tested extensively. Sadly in the race,
the thousands of miles of test milage came to nought when the turbo failed. The
kit is very highly detailed and we start with a white metal tub base, though most
of the rest of the chassis is etched and there are a huge number of small etched,
cast and machined parts to make up the suspension and drivetrain. The top
bodywork on the car was very short, leaving the turbocharged V6 exposed, so
there is plenty for the experienced builder to get stuck into. It will make a great
stand alone piece, or how about celebrating Renault’s 30 years in F1 with a replica
of the display that appeared at Silverstone a couple of years back, pairing this
model with the anniversary show car (TMS061)?
