Ferrari 312 Monaco 1969 #11 Amon by SilverLine
In
the 1969 Monaco Grand Prix Chris Amon, at the wheel of the only Ferrari entered
in the race, qualified on the front row alongside Scottish driver Jackie
Stewart at the wheel of the Matra. Amon was several laps in second position
before retiring with a differential failure. The Ferrari 312 for the Monte Carlo race was equipped
with a brand new fairing above the rear suspension after the
high wings were banned following the accidents that occurred in the previous
race, the Spanish Grand Prix. They will then be reintroduced, albeit with
specific limitations, in the next grand prix. This regulatory variation is
strangely imposed on Friday (rest day) after the first day of practice had
already taken place on Thursday. It will be the only case of variation of the
technical regulations during the course of a Grand Prix.
