Ferrari 312 1st Italy 1966 #2/4/6 Scarfiotti/Bandini/Parkes by SilverLine
On 4 September 1966 Lodovico Scarfiotti won the Italian Grand
Prix. That was the third and last success of an Italian driver in his home race
at the wheel of a Ferrari after those conquered by Alberto Ascari in 1951 and
1952. A totally Made in Italy victory dates back to 57 years ago. The triumph
at Monza, completed by Mike Parkes' second place, was the result of a busy
summer for the mechanics at Maranello. The Ferrari 312 F1, which competed
between 1966 and 1969, proved to be more unfortunate than competitive right
from the start, so much so that in four years of activity it only won three
grands prix, of which two in 1966 and one in 1968. starting in the top
positions in most races (including seven pole positions), he rarely managed to
finish the race. In
Monza, fate reserved a lucky day for the Maranello team, which achieved an
historic result that we still remember today.
