Ferrari 312 5th USA 1969 #12 Rodriguez by SilverLine
On October 5th 1969 the penultimate round
of the 1969 season was staged at Watkins Glen. With the drivers' championship
already in Jackie Stewart's hands many drivers decided to compete in other
championships. Ferrari entered only Pedro Rodriguez, who brought
to the race, under the North American Racing Team banner, the
312 F1 still equipped with the V12 engine characterized by intake on the
outside of the V and exhausts in the center. This single-seater, which was
disappointing in qualifying (12th in the U.S.) and which only a never tame
Rodríguez, a driver endowed with immense talent, managed to bring to the points
(5th) at Watkins Glen, although he managed to complete only 101 laps out of 108
scheduled. The retirement at Mosport Park (oil pressure problems) and the 7th
place accrued in Mexico archived a severely insufficient season for the
Scuderia Ferrari.
