Benetton B186 1st Mexico 1986 #19/20 Fabi/Berger by Tameo Kits
The 1986 Mexican Grand Prix was the 15th race of the
1986 Formula 1 championship and was won by Gerhard Berger in a Benetton-BMW
car. It was the Austrian driver's first career victory and the first success in
the history of the Anglo-Italian team. The Benetton B186, equipped with BMW's
4-cylinder engine, is remembered for its very distinctive livery with
multicolored "flames" on the sides and engine cover. For the
race, given the great heat and the risk of overheating problems, the team
removed the characteristic side grilles from the right side, leaving the
radiator, engine and all internal wiring in evidence. It should
be remembered that Berger's partner was, in the 1986 season, Italian driver Teo
Fabi.
