Fiat Ritmo Gr2 Monte Carlo 1980 Bettega by Arena
The cars offered in these two kits were all works entries. In 1979 Per Eklund and Attilio Betega carried the white red and green of Alitalia and in 1980 Betega’s car was finished in the factory blue scheme. The two cars didn’t really trouble the timekeepers too much in the earlier event but in 1980 Bettega worried the big boys with his little front wheel drive Group 2 machine, running a steady third overall just a handful of seconds behind Darniche’s Stratos and he won the Col de Turini stage outright, eventually finishing the event in sixth. Apart from the decals the kit parts are near identical with well proportioned resin bodyshells and plenty of etch for smaller details. The bumpers are cast as separate pieces and this will simplify painting on the Alitalia car as this car ran with standard grey bumpers rather than body colour ones. Main paint finishes on both are in white with the livery colours included on the clearly printed decals.

About Arena
Accurate, well detailed resin kits with white metal ancillaries and excellent photo-etched details. Instructions sometimes slightly vague but normally adequate. Castings on some subjects can be a little rough but more recent releases have all been excellent. Due to the amount of etch, they can be quite fiddly to build but in experienced hands make excellent miniatures. Hand built models also available to order. Made in Italy.
