Austin Healey Sprite Mk1 Monte 1959 by K & R Replicas
There were three 'Frogeye' Sprites entered by the factory on the 1959 Monte Carlo rally and two of them are offered in the first kit here, the blue car of John Sprinzel finishing third in class and Tommy Wisdom's red machine following it home in fifth. As well as the two decal options, the kit offers two sets of wheels as the blue car was on wires (which must be assembled) and the red one was on cast rims. It was John Sprinzel again driving a blue Sprite on the Liege-Rome-Liege in 1960, though this time it appears to be a private entry and he not only won the 1 litre class, but finished a fine third overall! This car again has wire wheels and as with other K&R kits, this is the only slightly difficult aspect of the build. The rest of the clean castings should pose no problems at all as far as we can see.

About K & R Replicas
Well cast and easy to build, if rather crude, metal kits. Usually accurate though occasionally a bit odd. Wire wheels of the self - assembly type. Decals, when included, often slightly yellow (typical of many English makers) but will bleach with exposure to u.v. light. Now including a little more photo-etch. Made in England.
