Mercedes 500E 1986 by Spark
Our first reaction on seeing this model
was a less than enthusiastic ‘Oh great,
an old E class’ but then we realised
exactly what we were looking at a
miniature of. The 500E was built by
Mercedes in conjunction with Porsche
and was intended as a Q-car from the
outset so that other road users would
think exactly as we did, until the loud pedal was pressed at least and the hand
built V8 came into its own! The model is well finished in a very fine, dark metallic
green and there are subtle etched details such as side trims and the bonnet
ornament all neatly applied. One for all serious Mercedes collectors.

About Spark
The range which changed the 1:43 model market and for which we coined the term 'resincast'. Resin rather than traditional diecast bodies mean that relatively short production runs can be made and what might be marginal subjects become viable. Quality is very consistent with plenty of fine etch used where necessary. A huge range is the result, covering all aspects of (mostly postwar) motorsport and a wide variety of road cars. We typically see around 30 new subjects released per month and pre-orders are strongly recommended. Made in China & Madagascar.
